Mobile searches have now become more significant compared to desktop searches, especially since Google launched their “mobile-friendly ranking algorithm” last year.

This algorithm prioritises mobile-friendly sites in Google’s mobile search results. If you don’t want to lose any traffic, better make sure your site is mobile-friendly.

What are the required changes to my website?

Websites have to be made mobile-friendly since the majority of traffic is coming from mobile devices. This trend requires many website owners, publishers and advertisers to make certain changes such as:

This applies to all websites. They need to be recreated or redesigned to match mobile web browsers. Reports show that mobile device users are more likely to shop compared to desktop users.

Here are some general guidelines for you:

Before changing or updating anything, backing up your site is recommended. If you don’t know how to do it, contact your CMS provider.

 

  1. Update CMS Latest Version

Some CMS updates will automatically apply security upgrades to make sites mobile-friendly but if the function does not happen automatically, be sure to update it manually to prevent security breaches.

 

  1. Only go for Mobile-Friendly CMS Custom Themes

 

  • Go to your CMS admin panel and look for themes that have the terms “mobile” or “responsive” in the theme documentation.

 

  • If a demo template is available, copy the URL and paste it to the Mobile-Friendly Test to see if it is mobile friendly.

 

  • You should also make sure that the template you are about to choose is fast. Check the speed section of PageSpeed Insights and only select the ones that are NOT marked “Should Fix.”
